Custom Homestead Skill Courses
Are you looking to improve your traditional-living skill set? Interested in learning how to be more self-sufficient? Are you excited about homesteading but unsure of what to start first or how to make the leap? Is there something you want to see in person before trying it out yourself? Have us create a custom homesteading class for you, your family, or a group of friends!
If you are anything like us, you have watched a ton of youtube videos and read a bunch of blogs about whatever your current interests are in a way to get closer to taking the first step towards actually doing them. Sometimes you just need the additional nudge, see something done in person, or want to give it a shot on a small scale before giving it your all. Its understandable to want to test the waters first and that’s what we are here for.
We can host a class for you, your family, or a group of friends and customize it based on your interests and curiosities. Here are just a few ideas we came up with on the fly (See photos for additional teasers):
· Pickles 101
· Preserving the Summer Tomato Harvest
· Canning – Waterbath or Pressure
· Intro to Backyard Chickens
· Homestead Planning
· From-scratch Cooking
· Soap Making
The above list is in no way exhaustive and we would love to hear your ideas to see if there is a way we can build a class around you. Keep in mind, we will only offer classes in areas where we have true experience and valuable knowledge to pass along. So, for example, don’t ask us how to square a building or hang a photo straight on a wall – we are still trying to figure that our ourselves!
We anticipate that classes will be at least 2 hours to allow for the completion of more complex tasks and will always include a takeaway product related to the course subject matter. Classes start at $45 and are priced by the individual, however group pricing may be arranged depending on the topic. All required supplies are included in the course price unless otherwise stated and students are not required to bring anything other than a sense of humor and a drive to learn. Courses are generally held at our residence in Laurel, Indiana.
